Personal Injury/Workers’ Compensation
Personal Injury
The Law Office of David L. Lord and Associates, P.A., handles personal injury claims. When you or a family member is injured as the result of the negligence of another party, you are entitled to compensation for your medical expenses, loss of earnings, pain and suffering, and other damages.
Injuries can occur in many ways. Certainly the most common is an automobile accident. But others can be equally damaging and costly to you. Injuries sustained at a business, on property owned by another party, and off-shore or maritime injuries such as on oil rigs or supply boats are also common. Less common, but just as painful, are those claims for medical malpractice, sexual harassment, police misconduct, nursing home neglect or abuse, or class actions for adverse reactions to drugs such as Phen-Fen, Vioxx, Baycol, Propulsid or others.
If you or someone close to you has been injured in any way, see an attorney IMMEDIATELY for advice! Do NOT agree to give any recorded statement or sign any authorization, whether for medical information or for any other purpose, without having obtained legal counsel. YOUR RIGHTS CAN BE SERIOUSLY JEOPARDIZED!
We will make every effort to make sure that you collect a fair and reasonable amount for your injuries. You should keep in mind that there is no set amount for any particular personal injury case. Each case is evaluated based on its own merits, the extent of the injuries, and the probability of being able to collect any damage award to which you may be entitled. Our fees are based on a percentage of any award that we are able to recover for you. And, though you may have to cover certain expenses in the preparation and pursuit of your claim, you will pay NO FEES unless we are successful in collecting damages for you!
Our office provides a FREE consultation to discuss your rights. We will gladly review your insurance coverage, the coverage of any parties that may be responsible for your injuries, and evaluate your claim.
Workers' Compensation
The Law Office of David L. Lord and Associates, P.A., handles workers compensation cases. Workers compensation, commonly called workers comp, is a method of paying injured workers who get hurt on the job. The injury sustained may result in total or partial permanent or temporary disability. In ANY case, regardless of whether you believe you can return to work or not, SEE AN ATTORNEY!
You have valuable and specific rights that must be protected, and any communication with your attorney is private and confidential. In workers’ comp cases, there are important deadlines and procedures that you may not be aware of that may limit your recovery. In any case, do NOT agree to give a recorded statement or sign any documents until you have consulted an attorney.
Your medical expenses should be paid by your employer, including related medical care, mileage to and from your doctor appointments, and expenses for a care-giver if you are bed-ridden after surgery. Additionally, you are entitled to receive a portion of your regular weekly income until you are released by your physician. If you are not able to return to work or are able to return but to a different job paying less money, you may be entitled to additional money for your permanent total or permanent partial disability.
You have the right to choose your OWN physician. Though your employer may refer you to a "company" doctor, you have the right to choose a different doctor for advice or treatment. It is very IMPORTANT that you consult with an attorney before you limit your choices. REMEMBER, the insurance company has attorneys who are trained in workers’ comp law, and it is often their goal to pay as little as possible to you, the injured worker.
CONSULT AN ATTORNEY TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE TREATED FAIRLY!
